Want a friend?

HHCC would love to be there for you!

Home/Health and Child Care Services, Inc. is launching its new “Friends” program funded by the United Way of Greater Plymouth County.

The goal of this program is to provide homebound seniors and shut-ins with social contact and companionship to help maintain their quality of life and improve their health.  We will use a combination of HHCC staff and volunteers to visit the elderly approximately once a week for an hour or so.  As an “HHCC Friend” this person would provide a social visit and engage their Senior Friend in mental pursuits such as conversation, reading the newspaper, puzzles, board games, playing cards, cooking, gardening, or any other hobby/activity that the senior has an interest in.  HHCC’s friend might occasionally bring a treat to their Senior Friend, a cup of coffee, tea, pastry or such.

One of HHCC’s nurses would accompany the HHCC Friend for the first visit to provide an orientation to the staff person or volunteer.  CORI’s are done on all staff and volunteer workers.  Future weekly visits would be scheduled with the senior by our office in coordination with the staff and volunteers.
